In
2003 I obtained the 84F.com domain name, and this site was created,
as a development of the first Stourbridge Junction website at http://www.tom.cockeram.clara.net
This
earlier site still contains some useful information, especially items
from Mark & Moody's publication, Stourbridge and its Industries,
of 1903.
Following
steady enlargement during 2003 and 2004, pressures of work and life
generally, brought progress to halt.
During
2005 some additional items were added in the pre 1820s section regarding
early industrial railways.
I
have recently determined to continue the site's development, and in
order to make it easier to find these later additions I will make general
reference to new entries in the table below.
November
2007 |
1844
Worcester Chronicle articles regarding proposed railways to the
Blackcountry.
1870
County Express article telling of GWR Engine Shed move to Stourbridge
1891
Letter to the Times, by Sir John Fowler |
September
2007 |
New
entries from the County Express for 1869. These generally focus
around the usual crop of accidents, some railway excursions, and
attempts to obtain a new Goods Station at Rowley. Also covered are
one or two items of industrial news, and discussion of the abandonment
of the proposed Stourbridge Town Branch. |
