DUDLEY
EXODUS OF RAILWAY WORKMEN:- It is stated on good authority
that the directors of the Great Western Railway Company intend removing
their locomotive department from the Dudley station to Stourbridge, the
reasons assigned being that the Dudley locomotive shed is not large enough,
and that Stourbridge is more central and convenient. If the arrangement
is carried out, at least 140 artisans and others will be withdrawn from
this town at once. This, when it becomes generally known, will be regretted,
inasmuch as it will not only take away a large sum of money, but add to
the already too numerous void of houses.
